Name: Alfred Smith Date: December 20th, 1921 - July 7th, 2010 Obituary: Alfred (Bob) Smith went on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on July 7, 2010. He was born to Genevieve Smith in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on Dec 30, 1921, and lovingly brought up as the son of Joe and Elizabeth Lewis in Tipp City, Ohio. He served in WWII in Hawaii. In 1945, he met the love of his life, Garnet Collins in Tipp City; while they were each visiting mutual friends. Two weeks later, they married and had celebrated their 61st anniversary three years ago. They moved to Wisconsin in 1956 with sons Bobby, Vernon and Gary Joe. He took up dairy farming on the homestead of Garnet’s father. Later, he worked at Connors Mill and raised beef cattle. Bob and Garnet welcomed Sheba, their foster daughter to their Laona home along with other foster children, and they adopted their daughter Becky. Bob loved old cars, especially the 1937 Ford Roadster he once owned. His faith in the Lord Jesus was for all time the most important thing in his life and he was looking forward to a reunion in heaven with Garnet and many old and dear friends. His wife Garnet, infant son; Randy Jess Smith and son; Robert Lewis Smith preceded Bob in death. He is survived by sons Vernon (Mary) of Mattoon, Gary Joe (Denise) of Laona and Becky Loucks. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will sadly miss Bob. Visitation will be on Monday, July 12, from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Stella Sowder officiating. Interment will be in the Laona Cemetery.
