William “Bill” E. Bohman, age 80, of Laona, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rhinelander. He was born in Laona on February 5, 1930 to Frank and Christina (Britten) Bohman.
Bill graduated from Laona High School in 1949. In 1952, Bill joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Korea. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Laona and began working for Connor Lumber and Land; retired after 28 years of service.
Bill was a very proud member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, longtime member of St. Leonard Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed woodworking and sold many of the projects that he made; had made over 200 Rocking Horses. Bill also spent time playing cards and having fun earning him the nickname “Wild Bill”. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by:
Sister-in-law: Marie Bohman, Stratford
Godchildren: Diane and Mary
Special Niece: Louise Kolb
Special Nephew: Gary Bohman
Special Friends: Kim, Debbie and Dave
Further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends
Preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Christina, sisters; Margaret and Dorothy and brother; Bob (Habo).
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 15 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at St. Leonard Catholic Church, Laona. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 with Father John Cerkas officiating. Inurnment will be in the Laona Cemetery at a later date. The VFW Cook-Elfor Post #6823 will be providing Military Honors.
